Do not rely on a verbal promise that an agreement has been settled. Ask the seller for current written evidence and verify it with the named finance organisation before purchasing.

What does a VINWise report check?+
Depending on the vehicle and available records, the report can include outstanding-finance indicators, stolen and write-off markers, MOT and mileage history, tax and identity details, plate or colour changes, keeper information and other supplied data.
Is this the same as an HPI Check?+
VINWise is an independent vehicle-history service and is not HPI. “HPI Check” is a protected brand name. VINWise provides its own independent report using records supplied by specialist vehicle-data providers.
How quickly will I receive the report?+
The online report is normally generated immediately after Stripe confirms payment. A PDF is then sent to the checkout email address. Provider or email delays can occasionally take longer.
Will a check guarantee the car is problem-free?+
No database can guarantee a vehicle has no hidden mechanical, documentary or historical issue. Use the report alongside the V5C, service history, seller evidence, physical inspection and an independent mechanical check.
What should I do when the report shows a warning?+
Pause the purchase. Ask the seller for written evidence, compare the VIN and documents, contact the relevant finance or insurance organisation where appropriate, and walk away if the explanation cannot be verified.
